ANGELICA GUSTILO ONG: A Global Communication Strategist

ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Angie. I am a global communications specialist with a background in international organizations, the private sector, tech startups, and marketing agencies.

I have 8 years of experience in communication, working at the United Nations, managing global communication partnerships, developing cost-effective and data-driven advocacy campaigns, leading digital and social media global campaigns, and coordinating in-person, virtual, and hybrid events and activations across multiple audiences and channels for the United Nations and globally. Through these experiences, I have gained vital knowledge and understanding of managing strategic relationships and partnerships with internal stakeholders, programme specialists, technical specialists, design agencies, external partners, investors, and clients. I know how to get things done and effectively coordinate complex initiatives within multi-stakeholder environments.

Currently, I am a global communications specialist for UNDP’s Accelerator Labs, the largest and fastest learning Network for Sustainable Development with 91 Labs across 115 countries. My role involves managing the Network’s digital communication initiatives and partnerships, including coordinating with our external vendors and internal stakeholders at UNDP. In addition, I lead the development of strategic digital communication tactics to support the Accelerator Labs’ resource mobilization efforts and partnership outreach. I also lead the explorations of digital media and technology trends to experiment with new ways, formats, and mediums of storytelling so that the UNDP Accelerator Labs can be an attractive go-to knowledge partner and innovative leader in development.

Previously, I was the global communications specialist for UNICEF’s Office of Innovation. My role can be defined as the communications gatekeeper, engaging with internal and external UNICEF stakeholders by developing compelling, creative content and campaigns about UNICEF’s innovation work. I also built the foundations of UNICEF's Office of Innovation's digital communication ecosystem by managing the team's digital and social media campaigns and channels, fostering community engagement, and sparking new partnerships and digital collaboration opportunities online.

With my experience working on complex multistakeholder projects at the United Nations, my ongoing work with UNDP Accelerator Labs in setting up the digital communication foundations for UNICEF’s Office of Innovation, and my private sector experiences, educational background, and adept technical skills, I am confident that I will be able to generate creative ideas, cultivate and manage key global partnerships for UNICEF. I am also excited to work with the team to explore and experiment with new partnership modalities, communication approaches, strategies, and tactics, including new mediums and channels to elevate UNICEF’s brand globally as a knowledge leader on children’s rights.

I am a self-starter with innate project management and communication skills, who can work within a fast-changing environment, adaptive to change, curious and experimental, and have a proven record in supporting multiple parallel projects, partners, focus areas, tasks, and timelines.
